July Favourites

This month has gone by so fast, summer has gone by so fast and I’m not liking it! I finished 6th form on the 21st of June with my C4 exam and I can’t believe it’s already August. During the end of my exams I decided that I wanted to start my own blog from reading so many blogs and watching so many beauty videos on YouTube, I was obsessed and I thought it would be fun to start my own. My last post was on the 17th of June and I’ve not blogged since, shameful. To start up again I thought it would be good to start with a simple monthly favourites, so here it goes my July favourites…

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara in 01 Black
*Google
I received this mascara in a mini gift set from my aunt and I am defiantly buying the full size when the mini size finishes. The mascara stays on all day without smudging and does not clump, the mascara does give quite a bit of volume but I would recommend curling your eyelashes prior to applying the mascara for very voluminous eyelashes.

TRESemme Straightening Spray with Argan Oil for £4.99
I have been using this as a heat defence whenever I need to blow dry hair which isn’t very often as I do just let my hair dry naturally but during the summer, I know it’s meant to be used when straightening your hair but I don’t do that very often as I find that when I do just blow dry my hair it comes out straight enough, not pin straight but good enough for me. This keeps my hair very sleek and smooth and leaves a nice smell in it also.

Goody Double Wear Headwrap Necklace for £3.75
I’ve been on a hunt for these ever since I saw them on a Tesschristine123 YouTube video where she had worn this in her hair in a very pretty updo, so when I spotted them in Boots I had to purchase them. During the summer time and whenever really I have my hair up constantly when I’m at home and these Headwrap things came in a pack of two in silver and gold and are perfect together or separately and it really does make a plain simple up do look like you’ve put a bit of effort in. *can't find this on Boots online but check in the bigger Boots stores.

Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy
I’ve never really been one for superhero movies but after hearing so many great things and reading reviews of Batman I decided I need to check it out. I watched all three Batman movies in 3 days, with a visit to the cinema on Wednesday to watch The Dark Knight Rises and I have to say it was amazing! The cast was amazing with Christian Bale playing a wonderful protagonist and I also very much enjoyed Bane played by Tom Hardy and Blake played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I can’t say much without giving out spoilers but go watch it if you haven’t already.

London 2012 Olympics

*Tumblr
I know this is a very recent favourite but I had to put it in, because well it’s the Olympics. I’ve not had a chance to watch many of the events but what I have seen has been brilliant especially the diving and the gymnastics, such beautiful and elegant sports. Team GB has done very well in the last couple of days with 15 medals including 5 golds and lets not even talk about China, they clearly are the best with all the training they do, it’s crazy. Very exciting time for London and I am glad that it has happened in my lifetime.

The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins
I have read he first 2 books and I am on part 2 of the 3rd book Mockingjay and after I have read it I will do a proper review on the books because well I want to talk about them haha.

Marie Claire and a Ciaté freebie

I picked up this month’s Marie Claire with the beautiful Eva Mendes grazing the cover, not because I'm an avid reader of the magazine but because I spotted that they were offering a free full sized (13.5 ml) Ciaté nail polish. I have wanted to try a Ciaté nail polish for some time now, mainly because they have quite a big selection of colours but at the price of £9 I thought it was quite steep, so I thought it would be good to try it out and see if the formula and the staying power was worth the money.  At £3.70 I couldn't say no. 3 colours were available to choose from -'Bon Bon' a nude pinky colour, 'Purple Sherbet' a pastel lilac colour and the one I picked up 'Jelly Bean' a bright bubblegum pink with blue and purpley iridescent. The formula is very creamy and smooth and with one coat the colour was pretty and similar to the bottle but with 2 coats it looked lovely.

If you do want a cheaper alternative, Barry M Shocking Pink (272) is very similar, almost identical in person but in pictures with the flash the iridescent blue and purple do show off with the Ciaté nail polish. The Barry M colour is more of a solid colour and the Ciaté colour has more dimension with the iridescent. The Barry M nail polish can be ordered online, or picked up at boots or superdrug stores and the Ciaté nail polish can be ordered online or picked up Selfridges.

The Ciaté nail polishes retail for £9 and with the magazine it was £3.70 and also there is a code for Marie Claire readers for 25% off during the month of June and July 2012 - MARIE25.

What do you think about Ciaté nail polishes?
